Default 8 CDN H shoulder badges

Can anyone tell me anything about this badge?
I was an 8th Canadian Hussar from 87-91. The shoulder titles we wore were like this - VIII CH.
I'm not sure if this is an early version of the shoulder title or what.
Thanks

Hello Chris, Welcome to the Forum.
The title is an earlier issue for the VIII Hussars.

Hi Chris

Nice. I got the same pic from Jason M. just last nite!!

And I was channel 8 in Pet 85-87. Still I hadn't seen it before either. Got a pair?

There is a pic in the Pictorial History the CO, LCol J,W Quinn (1962-65) wearing them for his dress uniform portrait. No others where that pattern is discernible. 8CH came back from Germany in 1962.

Perhaps someone from the membership here can find the Order for their accoutrement upon start up as the 8th Canadian Hussars with it's Reg and Reserve regiments. Maybe they just sawed off the "1/" from "1/8th Canadian Hussars"!!??

regards
Darrell

Another one of my sister regiments. In this case we did exchange officers with the 8th Hussars (Princess Louise's Own). That led to some fun I can tell you. Including the learning of many "Newfie" jokes.

Found the document. Metal shoulder titles reading 8 CDH H in gilt for officers and first class warrant officers and brass for other ranks was approved in 1957. The title was the same for both 1/8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise's) and 2/8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise's).

Hi Bill

I had no doubts......Thanks for that.

One of my regrets is not being able to purchase an Efficiency Medal named 2/8th Hussars that came up for sale some years back at Tanya U's site.

Chris

Have you been talked into badge collecting now?

regards
Darrell
