Colstons Cadet & New Project

Hi Gents,

I thought it might be nice to start the new year off with a few new badge collecting projects. One are of collecting I thought would be nice is that of Cadet badges. Now Alan O and his super albums have been a big inspiration, so many thanks to him.

So just started a new album with this in mind and thought I would kick it off with a nice badge, that of Colston's School Bristol - see attached for a photograph. A better image is of course in the new album.

I have admired this badge for a long time, so this new area of collecting was a good excuse to get an example (if one were needed).

Any help with dating this would would be grand?

The school dates it's Cadet Corps to 1915. The badge is certainly the school's and attributed by K&K to the CC. I have yet to find a photo of it in use. The School was wearing the Glosters' cap badge in the 1940s. The Old Boy's page shows pictures from the 40's and 50's.

The CC became an ACF in 1943 and then a CCF post war.

It would be grand to find an image of this in use. Who knows one could turn up, stranger things have happened.

Here is the Colton's cadet corps cap badge in use in 1915. The image is not clear but when magnified the curve of the dolphin can be made out.

The second photo is 1917.
