Default Belgian patch?

Does anyone know this one, please? I believe it is a Belgian patch.

Thanks for that, Leigh. However, I have another patch which I was told is Civil Defence, which I have shown below. Are these different patterns at different periods, perhaps?

Sorry, I don't know, the design you show was used on cap and perhaps helmet insignia but I don't know if it's been superceeded by the other pattern you show.

Hi Didier. By all means show it on another forum, in the hope that someone may be able to confirm what it is.

From what looks to be a rather complicated translation of the motto - below:
http://latindiscussion.com/forum/lat...-ruinae.23558/

The words 'Fearless', 'Strike', and 'Ruin' appear to be represented.

Not sure if this helps - context appears important as to whether it is potentially military or something else.
