8th Punjab Regiment
Hi everyone, I recently bought this 8th Punjab Regiment badge. I wanted to know if it goes back to ww2 or not. It is marked J. R. Gaunt London. Thanks a lot to everyone

The short answer is 'yes'. The 8th was created in 1922 from 6 Punjabi regiments and in WWII had 11 active and 4 training battalions. They would all have worn this badge.
In 1947 the non-Muslim companies were traded out and replaced with Muslims from other IA units when the regiment went to the Pakistani Army. As far as I know they would have worn this badge, or a very similar one until 1956 when the unit was renamed '!st Battalion, Baluch Regiment'. |
