The above-mentioned Cap badge (Pattern No 13954), announced by Minor Change 2133 is hereby introduced.
The design is a white metal Plume surmounted by a coronet and Scroll in gilding metal, the Scroll bearing the words ‘10th Royal Hussars’.
{Amended 31.05.52. Above paragraph deleted and substituted-
The design is a white metal Plume of three feathers, superimposed at the base is a crown in gilding metal, below the crown, a broken scroll in white metal bearing the motto ‘ICH DIEN’. At the base of the whole is a gilding metal scroll inscribed ‘Caernarvon and Denbigh Yeo’.}

From the above I presume that a bi-metal version had been introduced prior to 1947 as there is a reference to Minor Change 2133 [I've never traced an extant list of these].

That proves that the same base die was used to make badges for other Regiments. So the 10th's applied scroll was simply changed to another Regiments scroll...... thats why we see a faint mirrored image of the "10th Hussars" on some of earlier BiM badges

Ok..... this image, taken in Flint in 1969 (HRH Prince Charles visit).

All are "The Flintshire, and Denbighshire Yeomanry, RA (Territorials)"

x3 RWF = 384 Light Regiment RA (Royal Welch Fusiliers)(TA)
x3 Front Row = 61 (Carnarvon and Denbigh Yeomanry) Medium Regiment 88 (Fd) AGRA (TA) - Formerly Caernarfon Garrison RA
x3 DHY = 61 (Carnarvon and Denbigh Yeomanry) Medium Regiment 88 (Fd) AGRA (TA) - Formerly Denbighshire Hussars
x2 Middle = In uniform
x2 right = Permanent Staff RA

So the image represents the past regiments that amalgamated to form the one

I guess this is what makes collecting British Commonwealth, and British in particular, insignia, so interesting and varied, but at the same time so challenging. Uniform does definitely not mean uniformity!!

Griff,

is this the pair that was on ebay the other day? That pair I was watching but noticed a bidder so removed them from my watch list.

I notice with these Griff, that the crowns are riveted on but I could not tell how the scrolls are done?

Can you please enlighten me?

OK Griff, you appear to misunderstand, how the yellow applied is what I am asking, by plating or painting or what do you know?

Jerry .... I fully understand... what ever the normal process is for AA badges when they are made. Its not painted or plated.

Not in the least surprised, the last one I saw come up went for over £200. Glad I've already got one.
