Maybe they wore the Hong Kong Military Service Corps badge?

I googled Hong Kong Chinese Training Unit and the wiki page redirected to Hong Kong Military Service Corps.

G'day Commonwealthlover,
The Hong Kong Chinese Training Unit badge is similar to the British Coat of Arms, it has on the left a crowned lion, on the right a unicorn, in the centre a strapped quoit that is topped by a crown with a lion on top.

Information from the book, British Colonial Badges.
Hope this helps.

Phil.
