Default 51st Soo Rifles redux

Questions about the 51st Soo Rifles keep coming up, mainly due to the proliferation of the reproductions that keep appearing on the market. A list of characteristics found on good badges:
NOTE:
  1. badge has a darkened finish
  2. badge is lugged
  3. badge usually has J.R. Gaunt/Montreal plate
  4. badge has high copper content or is a copper base metal
The reproductions have some or all of the following characteristics.
  1. the fastener is a SLIDER
  2. badges are brass
  3. badges have black painted finish or no darkened finish
  4. badges usually do not have a maker plate

Here are images of a good 51st Soo badge.
