Default CEF 50th Gordons Infantry Draft

Greetings Chaps,

Some of you may have seen my thread (Passing It On) in the classified section where I shared my recent good fortune at receiving some unexpected income. This allowed me the opportunity to purchase a very special badge. It was this good fortune that inspired me to 'pass it on' and gift a few items no longer in my collecting sphere to other forum members. For those of you who were wondering just what that very special newly acquired badge is - well it was this one - a 50th Gordons Infantry Draft cap badge (photograph attached).

Needless to say I'm rather excited to add this incredibly rare and important badge to my collection. And even though it cost me 'an arm, two legs and a left testicle' - what the hell you only live once! For rarity alone it will probably now be the centerpiece of my Canadian collection but aside from it's rarity I think it's a jolly good looking badge too. Shared here in the hope you will also enjoy it.

Cheers, Roy.

Does it have lugs or a pin?

Phil

Hi Phil,

It has what appears to be an original pin fitting, not shown.

Roy.

Fantastic acquisition, Roy. This badge is one of the holy grails of CEF badge collectors. You did well if you managed to hang on to your right testicle!

Cheers, Ian.

Hi Ian,

Thanks so much for that. Totally chuffed with this one. Such a lovely little badge but what a corker.

Cheers, Roy.

Hi Roy,

Be great if we can get an image of this badge for the CEF book project, there isn't one in the CEF gallery nor do I know anyone with this badge!

Cheers, Ian.

Hi Ian,

Larry just wrote me with a request for this image, which I was happy to supply, so I assume he will use this for both the forum and book project.

Roy.

Roy, In addition to its rarity it is also a beautiful badge in and of itself. A wonderful acquisition and I thank you for sharing it on the forum and in our book project.
Cheers,
Clive

Thank you for sharing your example Philip. Lovely to see another one of these beauties.

You are most welcome Clive, happy to help. Just let me know if you need any more images etc.

I must confess to being drawn to rare badges but it is especially nice when they are as beautiful as this one.

Cheers, Roy.

Hi Phillip,

Now that you point it out, I have looked at your album and admired that badge before, so now I know two people with one of my holy grails. Starting to feel left out!

I would be interested to see the backs of both yours and Roy's badges.

Cheers, Ian.
