Two Brothers both Officers portrait miniatures reunited !
Hi all,
I bought the first portrait miniature early last year.Whilst Scrolling on the Bay I spotted another portrait that looked very similar to my own, upon looking at the listing they are brothers, sorted a deal out and received today !! Back together ! Hope you all like, feel free to add any info anyone has regarding the officers always nice to hear. Best wishes Steve |

Two splendid finds and wonderful to see.
However, has any body else noticed how the locket of the elder sibling's rank has been engraved? Unless Leiut was an ancient way of abbreviating Lieutenant, surely this was poor workmanship, but certainly does not detract from the quality of the two items. Regards. Brian |

The presentation inscription reads: 'Presented To Gentleman Cadet Richard H.B. Beaumont On Obtaining His Commission From The Royal Military Academy June 1858, For His Exemplary Conduct While At The Institution' Richard Henry Beaumont was promoted to Captain on 19 June 1872. The following year he commanded the 28th Company of Royal Engineers, Aldershot and was promoted to Major in December 1875. In 1880 he was in command of the 36th Company Royal Engineers at Chatham and became honorary Lieutenant Colonel on 1 July 1881. He retired in 1882 and died in 1884 Beaumont, Alexander 'Alex' Spink 1843-4.sep.1913 England, Manchester Deansgate - Kent, Beckenham amateur musician, 1872 captain of the 23rd Royal Welsh Fusiliers, 21.feb.1874 in Pembroke he was tried and acquitted for attempt to commit sodomy, 20.sep.1910 made Freeman of the City of London in the presence of musicians, at time of death residing at Crossland, 28 Southend Road in Beckenham ; son of colonel Richard Henry John Beaumont ; 24.jan.1872 at Christ Church in London Paddington he married the widow Caroline Savage (Marlborough 1826-13.apr.1907 Croydon), daughter of baronet Griffies-Williams Last edited by arrestingu; 04-02-24 at 11:30 PM. |
