I agree Toby. I have the uniform and effects of a RFA Gunner who has both a plaited white lanyard and another in leather the latter seems to be an affectation associated with WW1 gunners I have encountered others in this style attributed to the Royal Artillery.

Fantastic jacket you have photographed. I am intrigued by the Sam Browne waist belt. My suspicion is that this is a curator’s addition and not part of his original effects. It’s not uncommon to see such inconsistencies in museums where curatorial expertise in a particular field is sketchy.
