Gents, attached an RTR cap badge I've had since a boy.

Comments welcome on its pedigree and the presence of the makers mark.

I would suggest 1950s or early 60s.

Thanks Alan. Did they carry on wearing the Kings crown after the coronation in 53 for a while?

The main reason I was unsure of this badge is that I'm sure the wartime ones are lugged . . .I think.

Not my area, but been sorting through some older bits I have and trying to weed out the good from the copies.

The a/a Q/C version was in the 60's. There was no a/a K/C nor a metal Q/C (although they have since been made).

I was speaking to a Tankie in late 70s early 80s who wore a KC badge and stated that it was common practice if your father had served a s a Tankie you could wear his / KC badge.

A nice badge.

I would go slightly earlier. You see Buttons marks on the KC post war REME and RAOC which were introduced in 1947 and 1949 respectively and both worn until the mid-1950s, I believe.

So, from 1947 potentially. My gut says from then to mid-1950s like the above. As Alan says with the new pattern QC AA not sealed until 1960s so there’s potential for them to be later still.

Just my opinion.

Hi, the slidered RTR badge was quite short lived. After the war the powers that be decreed all badges should be slidered. The RTR objected having gone through all this in 1923, after a while and a large number of broken badges later, they relented and went back to lugs. So in answer to the question probably 1947-49, best wishes Mike
