Good Morning

I came across this site while doing some family tree investigations.

I have been trying to work out what army unit is on show in the attached picture.

Not much to go on other than should and cap badges showing SH.

Only other info I have is that they were Colonials in Sicily.

Thanks

The SH - Steinaecker's Horse?
I don't think SH was worn as a shoulder title by the Scottish Horse or Strathcona's Horse, though the latter wore a "workshop" made SH as a cap badge for a while during the Anglo - Boer War.

Would the feathers in the hat give it away?

The badge below the feathers may help too, but I haven't got a clue on that one.

Just from the photograph, I too, would have thought Lord Strathcona and his Horse, look closer to the family tree, you mentioned!

Hello. Just to update that I have found service records with the South African Constabulary that confirm previous services was with Steinaecker's Horse.
