1,821 Allied Names From WW1
Some 1,821 names have been found in a former chalk quarry at Naours in France. This was a staging area some 2 hours from Paris.
The names were written and carved by Australian, British, Canadian and American soldiers on their way to the front. "Gusky has kept a record of the 1,821 names he has discovered at the site; among them, the AP noted, are 731 Australians, 339 British and 55 Americans. The nationalities for more than 600 of them have yet to be traced, the AP reported." https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...red/?tid=a_inl
