My understanding is that Machine Gun Guards was a shorthand title, but I might be wrong and have mixed up the unit title’s sequence with that of the Guards Machine Gun Regiment, Andy. I think we did a full thread on this complete with photographs just a few months ago.

Afternote: found the thread - https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=61815

I think that you can still be lucky, on rare occasion, to pick up an original example from an on line source, or, a provincial antique shop for a few quid, but, normally I would expect to fork out around the seventy plus quid these days.
Not difficult, as long as you are willing to spend, but, I suppose it is human nature really, everyone wants a bargain.
