Bullion stripe
Hi All
I just found this tucked into a cover of a WWII army paybook for a guy who only served in Europe. Any idea what it is? Thanks, cheers, Alex |

Hi Alex, maybe a wound stripe, if oriented vertically?

It may be an army "wound stripe" for those who sustained injury in battle action.

Alex,
WW2 Wound Stripes were one and a half inches in length. If its close to that its almost certainly a WS. I have not seen an embroidered in bullion version of the WW2 stripe so interesting to see this. Mark |

Hi All
Some more info. It turns out that the chap who owned the book was in the Royal Artillery, 55th Anti-Tank regiment, and was wounded in action on 19/12/1944, so that ties in with this being a wound stripe. Cheers, Alex |

It's a US Army bullion overseas service stripe, each stripe representing six months.
