RAF Brooch?? Cap Pin?
I have this pin/brooch that has the RAF insignia on it and a very old style pin clasp on the back. It doesn't seem to fit into any descriptions I've read. Most of these that I've seen are described as "cap pins" and when you look at the back of them, they have two tie tack style fasteners on the back that would have attached it to a cap. This has a regular brooch-style pin on the back. Not only that, but it is a very old style brooch pin on the back. I thought that maybe it had been adapted after the fact, but it looks too perfect to have been a retrofit. The person to whom this belonged flew for Canada during WWII.
Please let me know what you think. I appreciate anyone taking a look at this. Jo Anne Y. |

This appears to be a RAF sweetheart brooch that has been made for a wife, girlfriend etc for when he was attached to the RCAF.
If he was Canadian I would assume that it would be a RCAF brooch. By the way it looks nice. Jerry
