Hi jerry

I will take a photo of the two boards .... the officers board has a very rare felt gilt wash cap badge with a safety chain loop ( i found in an American Antiques shop).

I think you have got yourself a really lovely example there, Jerry, the DH were a most interesting regiment.

Have you got the full photo Frank? I would like to see the buttons.....

Here is a 2nd/1st DHY Yeoman ...... and his cap badge looks like a similar die to the above? Thats the problem with most of the old photos, they are slightly out of focus and they give a tantalizing glimpse of the insignia. Its rare to get a good in focus image.

215236 Corporal Benjamin Ernest Payne
Died of Pneumonia Aged 28, 20th July 1918
NORFOLK WAR HOSPITAL, NORWICH, U. K.
Buried with Honour at OYSTERMOUTH CEMETERY
Son of T.S.& M.A. Payne of Forgefield Terrace, Norton.
He was previously employed by Messrs. Baldwin, Grocers, Mumbles. Enlisted October 1916, into the 2nd/1st DHY.
South Wales Daily Post:-
Corporal Payne was engaged as a shorthand writer & typist in the Quartermasters’ office stationed at Eccles [sic].
A few days after returning from leave he contracted influenza, pneumonia supervening.

Hello Griff, yes I have, but, the young gentleman is not facing the camera, he is sitting at an off angle in a chair, it is from memory by Jamieson of the High Street Wrexham, I will find it for you.

I like the Principality, Jerry, I always have, as a boy I had a very old aunt in Colwyn Bay and remember many very happy times down that coastline, Llandudno, Caernarfon, Beaumaris and Harlech, really just the mere tip, I suppose, yet everywhere those plumes, sometimes in the most obscure places, stone memorials and the odd grave too, it has a effect on a impressionable boy!

Hi Jerry

Here are the two boards. Missing off the boards are the AA 372nd (Flintshire and Denbighshire Yeomanry) Regiment, RA Collars and RA Cap badge (on a different board.... but would be included).

The two bottom rows on the ORs board are the DHIY badges with the very rare bronzed (whats left of it) cap badge (looped E/W).... also the Bands Collars (White metals)

The rest of it, Griff, not an ideal posture as far as we are concerned, but, still a good portrait, I particularly like the fine regimental whalebone whip with a silver top, calfskin grip and silver collar.
