Default Collectors Third Hand

Hi Guys,

This is what I used when I want to measure the length of the shear marks on the side of a badge to establish the thickness of aluminium sheet used to make it. This is needed as in one hand you may have a 5x or 10x lens to actually see the shear marks with ease and in the other a set of dial cailpers to measure them.

Being held is the fake West Yorkshire badge which instead of shear marks had a series of both different direction and angle file marks indictive of the edges being hand finished.

Very cheap - cost me the equvalent of 5 quid from a hobby shop in EnZed and even came with a low power magnifying glass.

Hope this is of interest - when I ask you to measure the length of the shear marks of a 'dodgy' Scottish badge you now won't have any excuses.

Regards

Chris

I have had one of these rigs for many years. I used to use it for modeling. It worked quite well for that. Since I no longer build madels, it has been collecting dust somewhere in the house. Maybe its time to locate it as this demonstration is pretty interesting.
