Hi There,

Please do - I'll be keen to see obverse and reverse images.

The blank slidered k/c RUR badge went for £60. I do hope that it was not to a Forum member as it is greatly overpriced. However if anyone really wants one then I have one available for £50!

Hi Alan,

The seller must be ecstatic - most of what he sold was utter crap while the good stuff remained unsold for another day!!!

How lucky can you get?

Regards

Chris

I realise that I am probably one of the older members of the Forum and that I have probably lost more brain cells than most of you but where is the link between the badge featured and a Smith & Wright mark ? This thread seems to have gone down many alleys but I am at a loss to understand the initial subject post. Where does Smith & Wright feature in this discussion about this badge ?

The reason is that the K/C variant was probably never made as a gneuine one has yet to appear - only these blank slidered ones.

However a Smith and Wright version would be a revalation as it is one of 'correct' marks for the period. That might be worth £50.

The ebay badge was originally being sold as having the S&W mark on it. This blank slidered version with the reverse imprint is better priced at £5-6 imo.

So, do we presume that no Smith and Wright example is known and, therefore, may never have existed at all ? Isn't any example - marked or not - rare-ish and probably valued at more than £5 - £10 ? Interest in anodised cap badges seems to have grown in recent years and we come back to the supply and demand philosophy, pushing prices (and price expectations) ever higher.

Yes that is correct -no S&W is known in the k/c version.

As for the value of the one sold - if you accept that it, like some other pre 1958's designs such as the Warwicks and F&F Yeo, are more modern then it all depends whether you want one in your set to complete the collection or not despite the fact they are made for the collector's market. Personally I am quite happy to have then for a few pounds but I would not waste £60 on a modern badge.
