Default 1st pattern Herefordshire LI - collars (1964 - 66)

Gents, amongst a small car boot haul earlier, unbelievably came across this pair of first pattern anodised alluminium Herefordshire Light Infantry collars ( sealed in Oct 1964 - see Churchills).

The smaller collars we are familiar with, were introduced in 1966.

I have never seen another pair and would be interested if any other members have a set. It is my understanding from another forum member, that the regimental museum in Hereford state that these do not exist.

Churchill states they were made by W M Dowler - and potentially were the only run made of these short lived collar badges.

Regards all

Bess

I have contacted the Herefordshire Light Infantry museum, requesting any information ( or otherwise) that they may have on the wear and use of these collar badges.

I await a response.

Attached a fairly swift reply from the Museum. It would appear that they may have been worn on No.1 dress . . .

Not completely convinced they really knew anything specific about these anodised collars. Not the comprehensive reply I was hoping for, from the 'curator'.

However, at least we know that they do exist.
