Late Anodised KOSB Bonnet Badge
Hi Guys,
Here is a late issue KOSB bonnet badge sourced directly from the KOSB museum in Berwick-upon-Tweed. The curator there tells me that this badge was not bought in for sale by the museum but was of the last issue to the regiment and as such, is an officially authorised for issue item. Lugs show the same characteristics as the early Black Watch item so it's fair to deduce that this too was made by Firmin. Thickness of the sheet is around 0.065" - note the extra reverse detail when compared to the Black Watch badge - why is this? Regards Chris |

As mentioned above the Q/C metal ones were not issued but privately bought.

I can't comment on the non-anodised badges but the first looks like the modern (and officially issued) KOSB especuially the fill in the reverse of the castle. Here's a job for you - why not reconcile your badge with my photos and look for die flaws to confirm. If my photos are not big enough as displayed via the formum site then send me an e-mail address and I will send you the 400 DPI scans. The lugs on the second anodised badge - are they aluminium? Alan, thanks for that,i can see why a soldier would want to buy the white metal badge over the issue A.A. Chris.I will do as you suggest re photo's.The first picture is the A.A. the second is white metal (see above) The lugs would appear to be aluminium (my opinion). Thanks again.Phil.
