Default “Collector’s Guide to the School Strap”

An eBay search for “Falkirk” turned up the disturbing “Collector’s Guide to the School Strap” (or ‘tawse’, as the Scots know it). What really disturbs me is that it’s the SECOND edition, And I used to think we badge collectors were an odd lot ...

That was the "unintended consequence" of a public school education. Poor boys picked up all kinds of unsavoury habits.

I notice that there are also a lot of these being 'flogged' on Abebooks. Perhaps this book was written to promote the Public Schools' method of producing 'strapping' young lads.

You guys are just too much, after reading this topic, I had to clean the coffee off my screen. Who would have thought coffee could be expelled through the nose with such force?

I do have to say though, they need to bring the strap back into the class room, along with the Lords Prayer and National Anthem.
