Thanks for this report by an experienced eye. As you say, this is not the place to discuss Baroness Thatcher’s legacy; but as a personage of international renown, her funeral has been televised throughout the world. It’s good to know that with the world’s eyes upon them, police and military did their country great credit.

Well done the Brit military, no nation can match them for great ceremony. The Yanks aren't too bad, but walking more or less in step ain't as impressive as marching.

RIP Baroness Thatcher.

A state Military funeral is a thankfully rare occasion. It was well rehearsed and executed. Pomp & circumstance, no one does it better, especially when you know despite the shiny uniforms the men (*& women) wearing them are proper fighting men*. It was a great spectacle.

Whether it was fitting for someone who alienated more than 3/4 of her subjects is a moot point.

As to your second comment, although I said I’d rather not debate the politics I do feel inclined to disagree with you so here we go mate, ‘fix bayonets’!

Three Quarters of 'her subjects' / (the electorate) though?

Difficult to tally that with three election wins, though I concede that she may have alienated three quarters of some sections of the population, these people were represented at her funeral this week, they were easy to spot as most of them hadn’t washed and didn’t have anything really very sensible to say!

That said, I do feel for some of the poor dears as from this week they have had their benefits capped to a measly £500 a week, how awful for them!

It must be a real bind having to get by on that level of free income, perish the thought and it’s a good job that the streets here down south are paved with gold otherwise we might have to take the kids out of private school, stop shopping at Waitrose and sell the Mrs’s Bentley.

Like you said Mike, it is actually all a moot point, as since the good lady’s fall from power we as a nation choose to exercise our democratic right to vote in the opposition and the three terms of parliament that they had have of course left us with an idyllic state of affairs.

Obviously we down south weren’t the flavour of the month during this time so our share of the multi cultural paradise that is enjoyed in the north of the country is less than may be fair but I expect we have our fair share of welfare dependant families ready to vote the nasty party back out again soon so we can get back to the business of creating a social paradise for all comers and get the benefit culture back on track.

Better to have half the nation holding the begging bowl and voting for the continuation of easy street than encouraging them to stand own their own feet!

Regards.

Ry

But then again, I'm not one of those welfare dependant people who can't live without a handout so I wouldn't take it anyway.

Hmmm, I have a part-time job delivering prescriptions for a local pharmacy, here in the sunny South West, I also fit home living aids. Today I met a youngish woman, maybe 30 - 35 ish at her home. She was dressed in thickish clothing with a dressing gown; seems she has MS and has to dress this way as she can't pay her heating bills. Not all are benefit scroungers; as for her life expectancy, I couldn't begin to guess.

Ritchie.

Quite right Richie, not all are scroungers.

But many in South Yorkshire where I live are.

If only!

Margaret Thatcher arrived at the gates of heaven.

St. Peter apologetically said -
"Sorry we are not quite ready for you yet. We are sending you back to your old job for a few days."
In a puff of smoke she was back in Westminster.
Ten minutes later, Abu Qatada was on a plane to Jordan.

Regards

Brian
