Default Royal Regiment of Wales?

This badge was on a display piece made up for a museum, It has a merrowed edge and is clearly not Great War as it purported to be. Can anyone please identify it and date it?

Thank you,

Simon

The title is to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. The formation badge could be a more modern version of what was actually worn on the uniform.

It is certainly very similar to the Great War 38th (Welsh) Division badge but its construction makes me think that it is a modern badge. Possibly, one sold by the regimental museum.

Certainly not a period 38th Div badge. This is what it should look like.

Indeed, but whoever put it on the mannequin at the museum thought that it was close enough for display purposes.

The trouble is an awful lot of people cannot see for looking. The only real similarity is that they are dragons.
