ATC Flying Scholarship Badge Query
In “Badges & Insignia of the British Armed Services” John Tanner describes the white badge shown in the picture as being in a MOD Photo Archive and marked ATC Flying Scholarship Badge. He says “…that it is probable, and to be hoped, that this unattractive badge was never issued.”
However, one has been seen during an internet search and was apparently once sold on on Ebay (The blue one above) and, as it is numbered, it may have had a short life. None of the ATC documentation I have seen ever mentioned this badge. The 1951 Regulations show the well known metal badge with upturned wings. So has anyone seen this, or worn it when in the ATC, or can give any further detail? |

ATC FLYING BADGE
Have a look at "Flight" 1 February 1952 pages 140/141, also RAF Flying Review March 1952, in Orderly Room Jottings.
