Default Req info on the Senoi Praak and Sarawak Rangers

Does anyone have a picture of the cap badge worn (if any) or any patches worn by the Senoi Praak during the Malayan Emergency 1948-1960. I understand that this unit was formed near the end of the Emergency.
Also any badge info on the Sarawak Rangers for the same period and same Emergency.

Hi Arthur 257,
I'm not sure of the vintage/genuineness of this badge but have had it in collection for some time. It measures 60mm x 57mm. Comments welcome.
Cheers, Tinto

Default Re Sarawak Rangers Badge

It looks genuine and dimensions seem right. The Sarawak Rangers were setup by the British Army in Malaya in 1953, as they were excellent jungle trackers. After basic training at Siginting Camp, in Port Dickson, Malaya, they were posted to various infantry Regiments throughout Malaya. They were disbanded by the British in 1960, however the Malaysian Army recruited them and to this day they are still part of the Malaysian Army.

Smile Senoi Praak badges

Thank you, this was just what I was looking for, but was unable to find or confirm that they actually did have a cap badge. Many thanks for that.

there is another cap badge in the shape of a Jaguar. Only seen it before in the museum in Kutching. Never seen one in a collection. Hard to find this stuff and info on it very thin on the ground. A story in need of writting I think.

Hi Saumua,

Methinks thou shouldst grab pen and paper - you're the one with the excellent collection!

There, now aren't you pleased you suggested it

Default Am I missing something here ....

Hi All,

My question is when I look at the MALAYAN badges - ie Federated Malaya - is that they're not under the British Crown, but rather the Malaysian one?

Isn't this somewhat unique? If it isn't - then are there other examples of other territories?

+ Anthony

Thank you everyone who replied to my request, all the replies were very helpful. It's an area that no too many people are familiar with unless they served in Malaya during the "Emergency".
