Default Rising Sun Strike Error

Hello,

I have been collecting militaria for many years (just over 40), and recently acquired this Rising Sun with a strike error. Am wanting to value my collection for insurance and cannot find anything on the net or even from very knowledgable mates about this one. I have never seen one before, nor has anyone I know?

Hoping an expert here may guide me as to whether this is common and I just have not seen one, or if I need to donate to AWM / lock up in a safe lol.

Many thanks.

hi tal
i would suspect this badge missed the reject bin when manufactured.
i've never seen another but for mine its more a curio than a rarity.
thanks for showing it

G'day Tal

I agree with BC, I think that its been a double strike and has missed being rejected at the inspection stage.

I will stick my head out, you cant miss it Ive got lots of grey hair ! I agree that its a curio rather being of any worth despite it being "unique", I'd value it at $5.00.

Regards

Phil.
