The firmin badge looks good but I have never seen a strengthening bar that long before. The short bar one is fine as well. I would not worry about the slight differences in design as the regiment wore the same style badge from 1901-1950s so there were several makers. For some reason the Q/C badges were not so well detailed as the k/c ones and were not voided so much in the lettering or at the end of the wreaths.
I will photograph my 2 badges and post them. Alan |

The No. 3 insteadi I was given by the German friends. The No. 1 and the No. 2 Firmin instead I took them to England via the Internet .... and J await to see yout budges Alan....

Here is a selection of my Bay's badges, notice the size of the Officers badge marked J & Co compared to the other-ranks badges.

My 2 are identical to those - the large font Gaunt London and a k/c with bar. All very original to me. The q/c copies come with both solid and voided lettering - any with voided lettering or lugs would not make it into my collection.

When you say with lugs is it just the Queen's crown version you are refering to as i have a king's crown with lugs. Cheers Malc

Yes that is correct - it was just the q/c I was referring to.

Bays Badges
Hi Musafa
Both look ok to me especially the one with shortened reinforcement bar. Not so so sure about the long one! Jury's Out. Firmin were producing Bays badges in 1946 and the Bays were in Italy then. So if you bought it locally it might be one left there after the war. But as usual, its very hard to say without 'feelin' the badge Howard |

The Queen's Bays stayed in Italy after WW2 till 1947 when they were posted back to UK to a place called Chester. The Regimental website will confirm this for you : http://www.qdg.org.uk/digest.php?id=...=Queens%20Bays Plus i have an invitation to the Sgts Mess Summer Ball somewhere in Italy printed in in Italian and dated sometime in the summer of 1946. So i am afraid your reference material has mislead you. Howard |
