Default "V Eyes" Motto Confirmation 1950s

Hi All

Finally ..... photo evidence of the "V Eyes" motto in the 1950s. There is also a backing being worn behind the motto and behind the collar motto. Squadron or Brigade colours possibly (I have put an extra contrast image of the motto with the backing)?

Sadly no name to the Lancer in the image.

Judging by the Battledress - I would venture to suggest that this image dates from the 1940s rather than the 1950s. He appears to be wearing a 1937 or 1940 pattern Battledress blouse as opposed to the 1946 or 49 pattern (which were manufactured open necked). As a matter of interest, what makes you think it was 1950s?

..... it was quoted with the image ..... actually "1949-50". BUT if you think it from the 1937-40 era then I have no problem with that from your observations For me ..... the image confirms the use of that motto type ....so any extra info is a bonus! It is an older motto, I believe, because it is also found with a tapered crimped slider.

1949/50 would make sense as 49 BD would not be on general issue by that time and stocks of 37/40 pattern would still be in service too. I certainly wouldn’t date it any later than 2950 though....
