But, I thought you said it looked like "Casper"

The example I saw today was a far better produced example than that shown earlier in the post, at least the lettering was of uniform height at least. Strangely it has lugs fitted the rear of the Casper portion and then the badge is also stitched to the beret. "Belt and Braces"? The working belt looks good with a green nylon waist belt, bronze circular lockets with a Motto to the centre and the Regimental title to the circlet! The makers appear to have dropped a clanger with the first batch, the circlet featuring the title "Mercian Regiment" and the central Motto a collectors item for the future?

Smile RL - No 1 Dress Forage Cap 'Motto'.

The dress uniform 'motto' is as attached as worn on the Combined Cavalry memorial parade in Hyde Park Sunday 10th May.

I have looked into your comments, and I have been advised that the Dress committee allows/is allowed 5 years to get the issue of insignia to the new regiment's satisfaction.
So there will be additions and refinements on going for some time to come, as there was incidentally with the QRL.

This, as I understand it, this is normal procedure upon amalgamation of regiments as it is an extremely difficult task to get it right first time and please everyone concerned.

It is possible that in the near future we will see a silver motto and collar dogs, and the return of a brass armoured car sleeve badge for example.

Regards

Rob
