17th/21st Lancers
I’ve got a couple of Firmin officer’s mottos on the way and they are sealed in the original bags (eBay listings here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/17-21st-L...-127635-2958-0 and here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Officers-...-127635-2958-0).
The NSN is 8455-99-130-3556 and the paoyeomanry website lists them as silver plated, whereas the finish on the bag is listed as DSilver Burnish. Are they one and the same thing? The dates on the bags are 19/06/13 and 08/06/15. These dates seem very late for the 17th/21st Lancers as they merged into the Queens Royal Lancers in 1993. Did they use the same cap badge? If so, is it case that Firmin still referred to it the badges as 17th/21st Lancers badges, and listed this on the packet accordingly, or is there some other reason as to why they continued to be produced so long after the demise of the regiment?

17/21L
Both regiments wore the same style of Motto. The only difference being that the QRL wore a red backing on their berets.

.... Officers:- are brass, nickel silver plated, then silver plated.
* The Motto imaged below is an Officer version (*3556) by Gaunt.

Thanks Griff.
Would DSilver Burnish equate to a nickel silver or silver plated finish?

If you look closely at this image of a Gaunt version you can see the brass coming through as the top plating has been polished away (the back of the motto still has all its plate).
