I lived in Bisley during my childhood. The badges were available in Thornton’s the gun shop for sale as a keepsake. I never had the money to buy them, so we used to scrounge them off the soldiers. Used to have a combat jacket with them all sewn on that I wore fishing. That was over 40 years ago now, feels like yesterday👍

Wardog, great reference thread, of note the Cadet 100 badges are all still in use, i think the Army 100 has gone to a metal 'number' on working dress similar to the sniper badge, worn on the chest. Regards Mark

The (traditional) cloth badges are still used on No2 (Service Dress). I have the set of badges on the way to me and will check for makers marks when they arrive. I will also check Army Dress Regulations. Tim

How do yoy play .....?
Good day all,
A true story related to Canadian participation at Bisley. Top shooters from the Canadian Armed Forces Small Arms Competition each year made up the CF team sent to Bisley the next year. A Warrant Officer from my battalion was a very well known shooter in the CF shooting fraternity, Queen's Medal winner, etc, etc. One year the CF decided to make up team jackets for the team. A nice wind breaker type jacket, with "Bisley Team Canada" printed on the back. On the way to the UK for the competition, in the airport, the WO, who was wearing said jacket, was approached by a Canadian woman. She asked him, "Excuse me, sir. How exactly do you play Bisley?" (His reply is lost to history unfortunately). Apropos of nothing, hope this give you a smile and a chuckle for the day. Regards, Ian B
