Default Cloth shoulder title clarification, please.

A photo here of a sailor from HMS Pembroke, together with two infantrymen. The chap on the viewer's left is a Royal Fusilier, and the chap on he viewer's right is (I think) a Terrier of the 7th Londons.

Could someone clarify what cloth shoulder title the fusilier is wearing, please? What I can see of it says:

...................' - - - - RES LONDON / RF'

Jon,

Seems a highly likely candidate, doesn't it? I wonder if the parentheses in my image have somehow become obscured, or if this might be a variation in title?

I very much appreciated your reply. Thanks for taking the time to provide the image too.

JT, I'd say you're right about the man on the right. Shoulder title 7 / T / CITY OF LONDON plus cloth title that looks like 7TH. LONDON.

Is it possible to date this photo from the RF shoulder title? The metal 'T/7/CITY OF LONDON' would have changed during the Great War period to 'T/7/LONDON', suggesting this was taken pre-1918.

In addition, I believe cloth S/Ts sewn to the top of the shoulder were introduced early-1917(?).

Of course, the rule book doesn't always strictly apply, as we have seen time and again. Thoughts appreciated.
