Default Six Rogues

Only 4 of the 6 are named on the reverse, with no indication of who's who:
Sergt R Clarke, Sergt H Groves, Sergt Gardner, Sergt (corrected to Lieutenant) E Dahl.
Traced as: 1502 Sgt Henry William Groves 55 Bn AIF, Lt Edward Bensley Gardner 56 Bn AIF and Lt Ernest Ponsonby Dahl 53 Bn AIF (Enlisted 14 May 15, RTA 4 Jan 19, Died 18 Sep 39).
53, 55 and 56 Bns were all in 14 Inf Bde AIF. The NCO on the right wears two medal ribbons.

Default Ernest Ponsonby Dahl

Mike
I have only just come across this site and therefore your submitted picture.
Do you have any further information concerning the pic.
I am tracing my wife's family and One of her relatives was Ernest Ponsonby Dahl.
Have come across a lot of info about him, but this would be the first photo.
Cheers
Graham

Soldiers #2 and 3 probably brothers judging by the pose and the distinctive eyebrow. Medal ribbons could be the Boer War QSA and KSA? which would suit the age of that soldier. Great photo!

Assuming he's in the Infantry, would the CSgt sitting on the floor be wearing these badges of rank if he were holding the appointment of CQMS? Higher definition image attached:

Default Ernest Dahl

I have been in contact with his son still alive and well in Adelaide. He has a copy of this picture. He has confirmation that Future LT Dahl is the second from the left with glass in right hand.
Cheers

Graham,
That's excellent - well done. One "rogue" positively identified and five to go.
