Default Achtung! Clueless newbie alert!

Evenin' troops,

I lurk far away in Bonny Dundee and my ambition is to have every WWI regular line infantry cap badge. This may seem a rather pedestrian quest compared to those of the connoisseurs and specialists but I'm an uncomplicated bloke. My other ambition involves Maggie Gyllenhall.

Hit my half century last month and my interests also include lager and the CB600F Hornet (is there a problem officer? 97mph? I'm very, very sorry).

A long time ago, I sailed the seas as an LRO(T) with the RNR. I waited nine years for the Russians. They never showed.

Smart move, tovarisch...

Regards

Stewart

Now this definitely rings a bell with me, for although I have lost touch with him I used to know a bloke who claimed to have a collection of the cap badge of every regiment and unit of the British army who served in WW1, and from his vast knowledge of the subject, and my dealings with him in badge matters, I believe his claim to be true.

A Southampton man who settled in France some six years or so ago........I wonder if he is a member of this forum..........if so, then please come in Bert.

John

"I lurk far away in Bonny Dundee ...."

Darn it, those words set me thinking about band music and the pipes....yes the two DO go together (!!!!!!!). Especially, in my opinion, when the Royal Marines and the Argylls combine to show how it should be done.

So I played a few bars of 'Bonnie Dundee', and tried to think what regiment(s) has/have it as a quick march. Help please, my mind has gone blank, and I have to find out before me old mate PJ chips in and tells me it is the result of old age.

Thanks,

John

Hi Stewart!

Welcome aboard to the Forum.

I'm 50 in October - oh the joy. BUT it is doubtful we'll get the 100th birthday telegram from the current monarch!

All the best,

+ Anthony

Nope... I'm keeping out of this one, Doc. You got me in enough trouble with that Inns of Court thread the other day!

PJ, you gave a terrific answer to the Inns of Court cap badge question, just as you always do. Great stuff.
I will check out the internet to see what I can find about 'Bonnie Dundee' as a regimental quick march
Best wishes,
John
