hi, thought it about time i introduced myself. i am 48 and live in sidmouth in devon but was brought up in southend essex. i have been interested in all things millitary since i was quite young. i passed a millitaria shop in southend when i was about 7 and bought a WW1 victory medal and have been collecting on and off ever since. as a teenager i had a large collection of helmets ,uniforms shell cases , gas masks etc but sold most of it when i joined the Royal Navy at 16 as it cluttered up my mum and dads house!
i served in the falklands war and also off beirut during the civil war in lebenon in the early 80s. i now collect medals to the Navy, including Royal Marines but also have an interest in cap badges. the Royal Navy has very few different cap badges and the army offers such a wide variety. i have an ambition to own a house with a cellar that i can turn into my own museum! Hi Martin,
Pleased to make your acquaintance. Please take a look at member Paddy's albums for some Maritime / RM treats. There are quit a few members with an interest in that area. With regard to the house, why not put the family in the cellar and turn the house into a museum.  Regards Ry

A Whole Room!
Hello gents,
This is my study, "erm, dining room. Well my corner of it! Actually I'm allowed two corners and assorted cupboards and shelves here and there! Never mind, it's my domain! I used to have a whole room but the family got bigger and the militaria collection got smaller! So for those of you with a whole room, well done, treasure it and guard it with your lives! Nice one PJ! Unfortunately my howls of laughter at your post attracted the attention Mrs. Charlie 585 and she has now suggested that the forum should have a new sub section: The British and Commonwealth Badge Widows Corner. I won't print my response and she has now retired to her part of the house in disgust. Anyway here's where I sit, often in a state of confusion, usually happy in my madness! By the way, most of my badges are stored away safely, waiting for the day that I finally decide how I am going to display them. Regards to all. Ry P.s. Love the bookcase, you must have OCD like me, everything has to be in the correct place LOL. Guess I am lucky I have a spare bedroom which houses my collection, I can be found in there most nights! Paul Quote:

Hi Guys, Well, I do have to share the (whole) room a little...it does have the communal computer in there and the vacuum and ironing board are stored in there also ..... sigh, I'll put my foot down one day.
But the walls are mine and I have my badge collection displayed there and I also have a bar room outside where I have other collectables plus beers when I need to drown my sorrows! Which can be often! But we must hang on to our little corners of the empire. Iain
