Hello, yes, the Infantry did adopt the badge, it's where it originated from, I believe the infanty side wore the grenade on berets at the start, then wore the short arms, meanwhile the Artillery side wore the gun badge beret size.
Then I think in the 70's all adopted the short arms.

The Infantry side OR's before the short arms badge, wore a worsted HAC grenade, for interest.

Keith's is an Officer's.
It was a white cotton worsted badge for the OR's,
