Default Manchester & Northumberland VB Queries

I'm taking the time off to tidy things up and have these two in the ? box, not part of my collecting sphere.

First up a 1st VB Manchester Regt. I really like the metal and strike but the bottom scroll is whitemetal rather than GM. Also the loops have feet and are very long which I've always though may be replacements but they don't appear to be. Good badge or copy?

Second is a small NF whitemetal VB grenade. Churchill is totally hopeless here with so much ambiguity whether the collars were upright, horizontal, which way St. George faces and the dates worn. I don't have the NF book so is it a collar or FSC please?

I'll more than likely be moving these on.

Many thanks.

Keith,

The 1st VB Manchester is a copy. The front is wrong and the loops look footed.

The NF Vols collar come in vertical and horizontal versions. Yours is the vertical version.

regards

I forgot to mention that only the 2VB had a GM scroll, all the others were all WM.

As St George faces to the viewers right on the badge you show so it will be a collar presumably?

Just checked Churchill's - having referred to the horizontal grenades of the regular battalions it mentions the blackened gilding metal as being worn by 1st Vol Bn and the WM as being worn by the 2nd and 3rd Vol Bns and stated that the badges were also worn in the vertical position.
I take that to mean that there was also a design with flames worn to the top and St George upright rather than horizontal but I see what you mean about being ambiguous.
