CEF Badges advice
I bought these badges today in London (England) and I am just seeking advice on whether the colours are right or if they should be "pickled finish" Also the 121st badge is only 45mm tall so I wondered whether this is a collar rather than a cap badge.

Poor Lights
Cannot see them very well, poor lights, you need to get brighter lighting.

45mm is badge size for what i now, and nice marker on the back of the badge.

45mm is right for the 121st Cap Badge. The collars are considerably smaller.

I'm really pleased to hear that the 121st is a cap badge rather than a collar badge. Canadian badges can be a bit conusing as they seem to use lugs rather than sliders on most badges. James |

You are right the lighting I used wasn't too good. Yes I would appreciate any information you can give me about finishes. I do like the look of the Canadian "pickled" finish. Is this a chemical treatment or some kind of stain? James |

Some clarification here. Enamel is a melted glass finish. Good examples of enamel finishes are found on the CEF sweetheart pins. Pickling is either a chemical oxidization (by fumes) or a chemical wash (dip) that oxidizes on the base metal of the badge. The base metal of choice was copper, but pickling can also be done on brass and other metals. Pickled badges often have a varnish or some other protective coating over the pickling.
