Default 90th Regiment (Winnipeg Rifles)

One of those stories. Last winter, the hobby desk/room was in need of a tidy up. Put some newly acquired cloth in the binders, staighten things out . One new item was this small patch that was from the 90th Regiment Winnipeg Rifles. Well, at some point, I had set the patch down somewhere, distracted by something else. Hours later I remembered the patch, but for the life of me I could not find it anywhere. I must have spent hours going through things trying to find it. No such luck.
Today, and a new round of tidying up, I was into a box, which last winter had been gone through three times. I picked up some stuff, and out of the bottom fell the plastic bag with the patch in it! It was like winning a lottery.

To the point. The provenance has been established that this is a patch to the 90th Rifles, per 1914. It measures 1 5/8th by 1 7/8th inches. However, the question remains, what exactly was the use? The following suggestions have been made:
  1. Pugaree patch
  2. Collar badge in cloth
  3. Epaulette device in cloth
  4. Glengarry cap numeral
  5. Other?

Default 90th patches

Bill. I have seen several of these over the years and have always attributed them to th 90th wpg rifles. I got some with a large, older 90th collection =, I got years ago. I can't not recall seen any photos of them being worn but maybe wasn't paying attn. to that detail. I no longer have the photo album so can't look them up. Will check some of my older 90th photos, once we get the mess cleaned up from our move. In any event would say 90th issue. Wayne.
