Queen’s Royal Surrey Regiment
Are these Queen’s Royal Surrey Regiment or Queen’s Regiment buttons? I’m not sure whether they wore the same buttons in the same way that the PWRR wear a bronzed version on their current uniform.

Queens
Hi. They are Queens Regiment. The earlier Queens Surreys button didn't have that flat disc behind the lamb. Regards Andrew.

Same buttons are also used by PWRR on No1 dress. But looking at those in the image, they are most likely to be Queens Royal Surrey Regt or very early Queens . Gaunt London are probaly one of the earliest makers marks youll find for this button.

When did that style of button back come into use?
I didn't come across any with the anodised aluminium back until 1979, when I scrounged a number of buttons of that type from the stores at HQNI and Ebrington Barracks. |

The Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment button, the design as per their cap badge.

I’m seeing some listings on eBay and a dealers site, indicating that this style of button was only used by the 3rd & 4th TA battalions. I’m aware that the regular and TA battalions wore a different cap badge (with the regulars wearing the Home Counties badge), hence I could understand if the badges were also different in design. Are these listings correct?

As Leigh recalls, anodised buttons with brass backs were (generally) replaced from the late 1970s through the early 1980s by the all anodised types. The Queen’s Regiment formed in 1966 (1,2,3 and 4 QUEEN’S) and by 1971 had subsumed the former TA battalions as Volunteer battalions (5,6 and 7 QUEEN’S) which all wore Queen’s Regiment insignia.
