COUNTY OF DUBLIN REGIMENT BUCKLE INKWELL
BUCKLE MADE INTO AN INKWELL. I BELIEVE THIS MUST BE A RARE BUCKLE AS I HAVE SEARCHED THE BUCKLE AND NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND ONE THAT IS IDENT.

That's really nice item! I have seen the buckles as well but as you said, they are rare.

I am always looking early (pre 1939) British ribbon bars with foreign awards; interesting devices or just different construction solutions. Also I am seeking Royal Dublin Fusiliers items. I can help in small scale to research RDF soldiers (MICs, medal rolls, additional information, etc). |

Found reference to it here:
A version was worn 1859-1881 with the same centre of a Crown over 83, but with the new title “County of Dublin” / “Regiment” http://jeffreyhayes.com/wbc/?s=dublin

What a superb piece of history, I can imagine that being used in the Adjutant's Office in the Royal Barracks in Dublin.

Thanks for the reference. I note they do not have an image of the buckle in their reference. Although I am not big into inkwells this is a very tactile piece.

Reference in Ryan
A lovely item! It is listed as number 121 on page 23 of Ryan. Worn between 1859-1881 as already stated.
