Default Royal Tank Regiment

I purchased this small RTR badge yesterday along with an RTR Old Comrades Club badge, a pair of J R Gaunt marked RTR OSD collar badges and a pair of WM RTR collar badges that had all come from the same clearance.

This badge is about the same size as the centre of the collar badge but clearly has never had an attached wreath.

Can someone please tell me if it is a collar badge or if it was worn elsewhere, i.e. on the lapel?

Thank you.

Hi Simon, it's an Amercan officer's collar badge, presumably ww2. I have the same design peculiarities on one with crossed rifles, pre ww2, but not on it's own. Firmin must have copied it and produced them for US personnel over here. Very nice and one I haven't got, if you ever want to get rid of it I would be interested in it, all the best, Mike

Mike,

I am primarily a Great War badge collector so if you want to me an offer for it please send me a P.M. It came as part of a job lot from a house clearance with other RTR items. I will post a picture.

Simon

Some very nice badges there but I am not sure that they are exactly the same as the Firmin made example which is less quadrilateral in outline to the extent that there are only two curved lines rather than four straighter ones defining the shape of the tank.
