Kukri badge- Royal Nepalese Army?
Picked up this lovely little thing.turns out it's silver and very nicely made?
Just a showy brooch or is it Royal Nepalese Army - I ask because of the crown. |

The crown is indeed a royal Nepalese crown. But that is all I can say of it. Could be a brooch, even a tourist item.

In my opinion it's far too well made to be an issue Former-RNA cap badge. These examples were acquired in 2002 from the RNA-approved supplier in Kathmandu. All very crude, although their cloth badges were of very high quality. The cloth sign is that of the Former-RNA Intelligence School. Mike

I tend to agree with Mike: the few illustrations of Nepalese issue badges I've come across all suggest that they are very crudely made, on a par with the lesser quality Indian and Pakistani badges and nowhere near this nicely done. No idea about their cloth stuff.
The kukri is so ubiquitous in Nepalese/Gurkha symbology that it would be odd if somebody wasn't making jewellery featurng it. My tuppence worth. |
