War Work Depot Rio de Janeiro badge
An inordinate amount of googling has brought no information about this small lapel badge.
What exactly was the War Work Depot in Rio de Janeiro and which war in particular? Your thoughts would be welcome. |

Looks similar to American Red cross lapel badges from the WWII era.

Possibly related to the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (1943-1945) , which consisted of about 25,700 men arranged by the army and air force to fight alongside the Allied forces in the Mediterranean Theatre of World War II.
If Brazialian soldiers and airmen were serving overseas it is likely that the Red Cross would be involved in sending care packages etc. Because Brazil was initially 'neutral' at the beginning of WW2 they wouldn't really want "American Red Cross" involvement (although the Red Cross on the badge is similar to American ones of that era). So possibly a badge produced specifically for Brazil ?
