what is this hat?
i thought it was papal but it was made in the USA.
any ideas

That's correct, Phil. They tried to recruit me years ago and I told my wife "I don't do funny hats." Of course, that was before I began reenacting the War of 1812!

Just a thought, saw something similar being sold as a Commandery Hat of the Knights Templar, here in the states.

One way or the other it's a society piece.
