Default New one to me !!!

Having searched all my reference books I am having some difficulty finding this badge:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WILTSHIRE-...item415b5f101b

On a more serious note, I notice that perhaps because of the economic situation a number of new dealers web sites seem to be going online.

No problem with that, but the level of knowledge amongst some of these new dealers seems to be poor to say the least, with even reasonably common items being unknown to some of these new dealers.

Still perhaps it may result in some collectors picking up bargains.

P.B.

To be fair to the vendor, if you look at the other items they are offering they are a junk dealer. Not a sole militaria dealer or a out and out faker.

What I want to know is if the maker of this 'rare badge' had a sense of humour. If so they have my full backing for the chuckle that they have given me. If they did it for real then they can stay after class, come back at lunchtime and try harder!!!!

It's rather like a taxidermist friend of mine who, in his spare time, created creatures with combinations of different features - a hare with roe deer antlers - a fox with a badger's head - and so on ! They were intended for amusement, of course, but many a person asked what the species was ! As with this badge - someone is having a laugh - hopefully not at some idiot's expense ! David

Maybe the seller ought to have spent a bit more time doing some reference, instead they seem more interested in SHOUTED POSTAL CLAUSES!!!

First time I've been able to add anything to the forum for a few days and have just seen this and thought I should add my 2 bobs worth

In my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with this badge.

It's a perfect example of The Middlesex Wiltshire Regiment badge...........or the Wiltshire Middlesex Regiment.

It could be either; both fought at Albunera and both have IOH DIEN as their motto.

What's the problem????????

Regards

Brian

I may just have to bid for this delightfully appalling curio... my paternal Grandfather was drafted into the Middlesex Regiment, during WW2, then subsequently transferred to the Wiltshire Regiment, where he served for the remainder of the war.

Perfect!
