It appears to be a colour patch worn by a member of the Australian Imperial Force during the Great War.
If it is black and white then it is probably HQ Australian Corps 1918-19. If dark blue and white then it may be one of the Mechanical Transport companies of the Australian Army Service Corps 1918-19. The 'A' signifies that the wearer had served on Gallipoli or in a line of communication unit in Egypt or the islands near Gallipoli during the campaign there during 1915-16. Cheers, Keith |
