Medal Card
Hi All,
Sorry if this is slightly off the topic of badges but I'm trying to researching a member of my family's military history. Could someone give me some pointers on how to interpret information on a servicemans medal record ? I want to know the reason for him being discharged but I don't know how to find out what the code stands for. Reason for discharge :- W B.I. A.O.265/17 Does this mean anything to anyone ? Thanks Will Last edited by Diehard; 01-08-08 at 10:34 PM. |

If you do not get an answer here try the Great War Forum.

Army Order 265 of September 1917 pertains to the issue of the Silver War Badge. Paragraph 2 refers to classes of individual entitled to the badge and b(1) specifically to those "who, having served as soldiers and being still of military age have been discharged after service overseas in the armed forces of the Crown, on account of disablement or ill-health caused otherwise than by misconduct."

Thanks P.B. ,Wright241,
I've been having trouble tracing my Great Uncle to a regiment. Looks like I'm fiinally getting somewhere though. He lost a leg in 1918 so this all ties in. He was in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. So thats another regiment to start collecting Will |
