Default Honourable Artillery Company Collar Badge

Certainly not my area of expertise so I wonder if someone could assist with this badge which I believe to be is a collar badge for the Honourable Artillery Company.

Well constructed from white metal and measuring 32 mm from top of wing tip to top of wing tip.

Is this a genuine badge and what would be the approximate date of wear please?

As per Forum rules I may sell this at some stage in the future.

Regards Simon.

Not much help, but is it a beret badge for the HAC Infantry Company rather than a collar badge?

Leigh,

I looked at the various Albums with similar badges and saw the similar Cap Badges, thought this was a little small for a Cap Badge and so have called it a Collar Badge! As I say I know nothing about these so may well indeed be for the Cap

Simon.

It is the HAC beret badge worn on a black cloth oval by all.

Marc,

Many thanks for that information, would this be current issue in your opinion?

Regards Simon.

Hard to say, looks it, but there are loads of them floating around.

Simon,

Just to add to what has been said: your badge is the other ranks’ infantry badge, as worn in the khaki beret with combat dress... rank is differentiated by cap badges, with the embroidered version of the HAC crest being worn by officers and warrant officers (below).

Regards,

JT

Marc and JT,

Many thanks for your replies, a small badge for headdress, hence my confusion.

Best regards Simon.

Absolutely. It’s a reasonable conclusion to make if the badge is unfamiliar to you.

Interestingly, I had heard that there are two different sizes of this badge.

The metal badge Simon posted, or the officers’ badge?

Sorry, JT, I was referring to the metal badge in the OP.
